Hello – I’m Pia Cato, founder of the Vanilla Pod Bakery. My homegrown business was born out of a passion for creating delicious cakes that put a smile on people’s faces.
I’ve loved baking for as long as I can remember, and have fond memories of making yummy scones and helping my father bake jam tarts on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
I decided to launch the Vanilla Pod Bakery in 2009, after I won the University of Gloucestershire’s first ever business planning competition. Initially, my idea was to open a cupcake tearooms in Cheltenham, but I soon discovered that my heart lay with baking. The Vanilla Pod Bakery was born.
Five years on, I decided to specialise in creating deliciously elegant and beautiful wedding cakes. I love nothing more than adding a flourishing finish touch to my couples’ dream wedding – and, of course, making their guests mouths water!
Using high-quality ingredients – from local free-range eggs to delicious Madagascan vanilla, we now create wedding cakes that not only look fantastic, but of which every bite tastes like a little slice of heaven.
As well as making mouthwatering wedding cakes, delicious birthday cakes and special occasion cupcakes, we host fun-filled hen party cupcake decorating experiences and occasional private cupcake and cake decorating classes.
Over the years I’ve been lucky enough to bake for many wonderful clients, but my highlight was being invited to Buckingham Palace to present HRH The Duke of York with a box of Vanilla Pod Bakery signature bite-sized cupcakes, back in 2012. That’s one very surreal memory that will stay with me for the rest of my life!
All Vanilla Pod Bakery wedding cakes and cupcakes are lovingly hand-baked in Cheltenham by myself and fantastic team. We operate on a strict appointment-only basis.
